Varikikyun

A rainbow-colored balloon with claw-type appendages. And an all-important hypno-wheel. With its sibling, the inexplicable Variburoon, the Varikikyun typified the more playful design sensibilities of creator Ishinomori Shotaro's 1970's TV shows.

During Goranger's second year, these exotic vehicles were replaced by more staid designs that were easier to translate into toy form. This marked the start of Popy taking the design lead on Toei's science-fiction TV offerings.
