Takara president and CEO Sato said he'd "take responsibility" if Takara's numbers didn't turn around this quarter, and he did. Nobuyuki Okude was installed as CEO by Takara's "Management Reformations Committee" today. Sato will step back as a non-representative president, and is ultimately expected to retire.

No word on whether or not any threatening from Murakami had anything to do with the change. Okude is expected to cut headcount at Takara and improve the "awkward" relationship with investor Konami.

Okude comes up through Takara's ranks from its roots, considered to be a father of the Microman and Transformers brands. He went on to become the managing director of game maker and Takara subsidiary Atlus, and has recently served as a managing director at Takara. Okude is the first Takara CEO that isn't a member of the company's original founding lineage.
