Bandai and Namco are merging under the "Bandai Namco Holdings Company". Both companies cite this move as a way to remain strong despite Japan's falling birthrate and resulting flattening of toy and game sales.
The new company becomes Japan's #2 entertainment franchise behind Sega-Sammy.
It's theorized that with Namco's presence in North America, and Bandai's presence in Europe and Asia, the new joint company will attempt to leverage each other's overseas positions to increase sales.
Last chance for stockholders to call it off comes on June 23rd, official de-listing and merger takes place September 22.
