Bandai's Q1 profit is up about 25% from the previous quarter. Most of that profit comes from the toy & hobby division of the business. Globally, the largest gains came in Europe and to a lessor extent, non-Japanese Asian segments. Success was attributed to the re-launch of the Tamagotchi line, and the Bratz fashion doll line.

While sales were up, the North American segment ran at an operating loss. This was attributed to a spike in development and advertising costs. Bandai reports a massive concentration of new product in the NA market in the second half.

On the home front, sales of Dekaranger goods are bullish, and expected to remain strong and stable throughout the year, in marked contrast to last year's Abaranger line. The lifestyle division saw a dramatic drop in sales, attributed to bad weather and a downturn in the domestic apparel business in general.

Convenience store sales, amusement sales, games, and networking are all up.
