The Japanese have long held a fascination with bugs, particularly beetles, that's often reflected in toy culture. Sega's MushiKing (bug king) game has created the most recent spike in bug interest among boys, and a number of companies are taking advantage of it.

Apple, maker of many fine "cheap toys" under their J'am brand, introduces their Mecha Insect Legend line of candy toys including their individually transforming KabutoRobo (rhino beetle), BattaRobo (grasshopper), KuwagataRobo (stag beetle), HachiRobo (bee), Atlas-OhkabutoRobo (giant rhino beetle / atlas beetle), and TonboRobo (dragonfly).

Also available is the combining God Ares, formed from Ares Alpha and Ares Beta.
