searches

If you wish to forgo the experience of Zinc Panic exploration, if you insist on arriving on a destination, then use the either of the convenient search fuctions located in the top navigator. We won't judge you, we promise.

For more specific information about the search components, please review the following:

basic search
advanced search
search results

basic search

The basic search operates as a full text search and not a more conventional keyword search. Which means that you enter a word fragment for a wider search. e.g. a search for 'mazi' will yield results for all names that include that letter combination: 'Mazinger,' 'Great Mazinger,' etc.

The basic search also recognizes alternate and foreign name spellings. A search for 'Goldorak' will yields results for 'Grendizer.'

advanced search

Advanced search shares the text searching functionality of basic search and augments it with numerous filters. However, entering a text search is unnecessary; you can filter out results by using a combination of any of the pulldown or check box options. Our advice is this: start out slow and try only one or two options at a time.

search results

The search results screen divides your results into three tables:

toy-related results (pink) - links to toy pages, toy line pages, manufacturer pages
media-related results (yellow) - links to character pages, series, and publisher pages
article-related results (blue) - links to subjective commentary, news, editorials, etc.

If there are no results that fall under one of those categories, the equivalent results table will not be displayed. The initial screen only displays five rows of each result table. Remember to click the 'more' buttons to view all results under each category.

If you're not satisfied with the number of results, click the 'refine search' link on the pass your search criteria back to the advanced search screen, then edit your search.
